 谷口知巳プロフィール 大学在学時から、森田利久 (Gt),太田邦夫 (Pf) 他のグループでライブ活動を開始する。卒業後、ボストンのバークリー音楽院に奨学生として留学。Hal Crook (Trb), Jerry Bergonzi (Tsx), Herb Pomeroy (Arr)他、師事し、Ricky Ford (Tsx),George Russell (Comp)などのビッグバンドにも参加し、Milt Hinton(B), Frank Lacy (Trb),Ran Blake (Pf) 他と共演。ニューヨークに移ってからは、Conrad Herwig (Trb), Jimmy Knepper (Trb) 他に師事し、多数リハーサルバンドなどに参加。同時に、インディアナ在住のBill Adam (Trp) に師事しビルアダムブラステクニックを習得。 帰国後は、自己のグループの他に、北野タダオ(Pf)&アロージャズオーケストラ、CUGジャズオーケストラ、サウスサイドジャズバンド、ユミコニアンオーケストラ他に参加し、ライブ活動の他に、多数レコーディングもこなす。CDレーベルNewburry Street Musicを立ち上げ、「I May Not Remember」,「The Place I belong」,「2225 South High Street」３枚のリーダー作を発表。また、注目されるアーティストのアルバムをプロデュース、発表。ジャズ専門誌スイングジャーナルの人気投票にも幾度となく選出。2006年からは京都コンポーザーズジャズオーケストラのリーダーとしても活動し「Kyoto Composers Jazz Orch. directed by Tomomi Taniguchi」「Cross Culture」を発表。

 tomomi studied at berklee college of music in boston from 1987 to 1990 where he obtained a degree in musical composition. during his stay in the usa, he studied with hal crook in boston,conrad herwig in new york. currently tomomi is activily working as a jazz trombonist, composer/arranger and producer in the osaka and nagoya. groups he is associated with include tadao kitano & arrow jazz orch. cug jazz orchestra. in addition he is also directing his own big band “kyoto composers jazz orch.” tomomi has released 4 albums to his credit: “2225 south high street” “the place i belong” “imay not remember” “kyoto composers jazz orch.”. furthermore, he has produced a number of other albums. tomomi has been elected as on of the top 20 trombone players in japan on many occasions by the japanese jazz magazine “swing journal” tomomi is also actively teaching and holds teaching posts at nagoya geijitsu daigaku etc.I'm a title.
